Eric Linden

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eric Linden (b. September 15, 1909 in New York City, New York - d. July 14, 1994 in South Laguna Beach, California) was a leading man, who although starred in a handful of movies, was a big star in minor Hollywood. He began his film career in 1931 appearing in over 30 movies, including the classic Gone with the Wind.

Eric Linden’s parents were Phillip Linden and Elvira Lundborg, both being of Swedish descent. His father was a professional pianist and an actor on stage with the Theater Royal when he lived in Stockholm, Sweden. When Eric was six, Phillip Linder deserted his family in New York City leaving Eric with a lifetime feeling of bitterness and hatred toward his father. To help support his family Eric sold newspapers becoming a "newsie" on Tenth Avenue in New York City. He participated in school plays and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. Later he worked his way through college, attending Columbia University.
