List of London stations: Underground | National Rail

Euston Square is a London Underground station at the corner of Euston Road and Gower Street, just north of University College London (not to be confused with near by Euston tube station). The station, which is within walking distance of Euston railway station, is on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, between Great Portland Street and King's Cross St. Pancras. It is in Zone 1 of the underground.

The station was built as "Gower Street", changing to its present name in 1909. In late 2006 the new entrance on the south side of Euston Road opened in a corner of the new headquarters of the Wellcome Trust replacing the old entrance (pictured).

In December 2005 Network Rail announced plans (1) to create a subway link between the station and Euston station as part of the re-development of Euston station. This will create a direct link between the two Euston stations which at the moment are separated by a five-minute walk along Euston Road. In fact, Warren Street tube station on the Northern (Charing Cross branch) and Victoria lines is much closer.

In the newly built Wellcome Trust building, the new entrance to Euston Square station can be seen from a double decker bus as you proceed down Gower Street, although now open it does not appear to be fully complete with what appear to be temporary partitions still present.
