Evacuation is a television series broadcast on CBBC in the UK.
It is a reality show for children, in which 6 boys and 6 girls from cities, all aged 12, are taken back to Wartime Britain, by being evacuated to a 1940s-style farm, where their lives are changed dramatically. For two weeks, they live just as evacuees in World War II would have done.
The children who were 'evacuated' to the countryside were:
- Luke Barton
- Felix Chancellor-Burton
- Harry Cracknell
- Richard Hall
- Charlie McCutcheon
- Josh Opoku
- Laura Adegoke
- Natalie Hancock
- Tia Hatton
- Joanna Lau
- Chelsea Thompson
- Natalie Travis (who didn't last the series' run; she left after only the first three episodes due to feeling homesick)
The adults were:
- Mr. Brian and Mrs. Sue Rivett, who own the farm
- The school teacher Miss Young
- Mr. Storey, the local ARP Warden
- Farmhand Mr. Patrick
- Women's Land Army member Miss Victoria
- Matthew, the ploughman
- Home Guardsman Private Pickard
The show is presented by former Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker, who occasionally steps in to speak to and/or help the children when no other adults are there. He also sometimes interacts briefly with the adults during his pieces to camera, such as saying "Good morning" to Mr. Storey as the ARP Warden passes on his way to the farm.
According to the CBBC website, there will be a second series of Evacuation, and this is currently in production. Shooting has now finished for the new series, and it is expected to air on CBBC early next year. Series One was repeated during the summer of 2007, and began transmission on CBBC One at 16:30, 28 August 2007 with the first two episodes being shown back-to-back, and the remaining episodes being transmitted every weekday.
