Event Videography is the art of capturing social and special events to video. It has become the catch-all phrase to describe everything that is not Wedding videography

Event Videography started shortly after the introduction of consumer based video cameras in the late 1970s or camcorders as hobbiests who had started to make a living from documenting weddings began to look for other markets to offer their services in.
Event videography today is very much like it was in the early days. However the equipment has improved tremendously from the early days of the consumer camcorder. Today's event videographer uses predominantly DV based equipment. Its impact at present unknown equipment appears to be moving to the new high definition technology.
