Evergreen, Colorado

Evergreen is an unincorporated town, a U.S. Census Bureau Census Designated Place (CDP), and a U.S. Post Office located in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Evergreen is roughly 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of the City and County of Denver. The CDP population was 9,216 at the U.S. Census 2000.GR2 The Evergreen Post Office has the ZIP Codes 80437 and 80439.[1]

- South Park co-creator Trey Parker graduated from Evergreen High School in 1988 and grew up in nearby Conifer. Much of the early show is based on Parker's experiences living in nearby Conifer and going to school in Evergreen.

- Country star Willie Nelson owned a ranch in Evergreen for several years.

- Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt frequently vacationed at the Troutdale Resort before, during, and after their terms. The site was demolished in the 1990s after being abandon for many years.
- John Hinckley, the man who critically wounded President Ronald Reagan, was a resident of Evergreen for most of his life.
- The scenes featuring Darryl Hannah and Danny Huston in the 2004 film Silver City were filmed at a house in Evergreen.
- Evergreen is home to the historic Little Bear western saloon & restaurant.

Evergreen was named by and early settler in the late 1800's named Dwight Porter Wilmot. He donated land for the Wilmot Elementary School located across from his home on Buffalo Park Road. The home has been restored and renovated in honor of his name.
Evergreen sits at an elevation of 7,220 feet in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, 15 miles west of Denver, Colorado. Evergreen is located at (39.638905, -105.336318)GR1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 30.1 km² (11.6 mi²). 30.0 km² (11.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.52%) is water.
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 9,216 people, 3,591 households, and 2,689 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 307.3/km² (795.7/mi²). There were 3,840 housing units at an average density of 128.0/km² (331.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.35% White, 0.26% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.08% of the population.
There were 3,591 households out of which 36.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.6% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.1% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.6 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $79,380, and the median income for a family was $88,589. Males had a median income of $62,917 versus $37,392 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $36,654. About 2.3% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.3% of those under age 18 and 4.7% of those age 65 or over.
