Executive Council of the Isle of Man

The Executive Council was the forerunner of the present day Council of Ministers of the Isle of Man. Its head was the Chairman of the Executive Council.
The Executive Council was established following the 1949 General Election, "to assist the Lieutenant Governour in the performance of his duties". The Council originally consisted of the two members of the House of Keys and the following 5 members ex-officio:
- Chairman of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries
- Chairman of the Board of Highways and Transport
- Chairman of the Board of Social Services
- Chairman of the Board of Local Government
- Chairman of the Board of Education
- Ian Anderson MLC, 1971-1982
- Sir Miles Walker, 1981-1990
- Lieutenant Colonel Dr Edgar Mann, 1980-1986
- Clifford Irving, 1977-1981
