The Sims 2 is run by several different "groups" of people.
(1)The Sims 2 main - these are the people who have worked on the base game. (2)The Sims 2 expansion - these people work solidly on the expansion packs for the game. (3)The Sims 2 Stuff/other - these people are quite unknown and are said to work on the little projects such as the stuff packs and Life Story packs. (4)The Sims 3 team - This is the team probably composed of the Sims 2 main game creators working on the Sims 3. The game has probably been worked on since the Sims 2 came out.
The creator of the Sims 2 said there will be 7 expansion packs and we are on number 6. If they are going off of a pattern (which we think they are) the next expansion will be a Completely new one, not one copied from the original Sims.
Not much has to be said of the Sims 3. If the game is as dramatically different as it was for the sims2 to Sims 1 than the game should be amazingly good (hopefully more realistic in everything).
As a movie creator, Im hoping the Sims 2 community will adapt to the Sims 3 with there custom content
