Parenthetically titled "The Hawker", it is the sixth song on The Who's rock opera Tommy.
In the film version of Tommy, the song was performed by Eric Clapton.
There are differences in the musicality of the two versions of the song, in "Eyesight" was originally a R&B tune, but when The Who recorded "The Hawker", they changed the music from a bluesy song to a bouncy, more melodic and upbeat rock song. The lyrics are slightly changed.
