Faucet Direct is an E-Commerce website.

In the year 2000, the two founders, Chris Friedland and Dave Boctor needed a subject for their Master's Project in Computer Science. They were attending California State University, Chico - a rural town in northern CA.

While working at a local plumbing distributor, they saw an opportunity to sell bathroom and kitchen faucets through the Internet. The big-box and local hardware stores only seemed to have a few faucets in stock, in only one color or finish. Showrooms might have several models on display, but they also had to order the majority of their product from larger warehouses or manufacturers.

Though in 2000 the Dot-com bubble was in the middle of bursting and enthusiasm was low in making new retail websites, both Chris and Dave thought this might be an exciting chance. They wanted to create a website that sold faucets and accessories (and get credit for their school project). Thus in 2000, FaucetDirect.com was built and launched and the company "FaucetDirect, Inc." created.

Faucet Direct, Inc was renamed Improvement Direct, Inc. in 2003 as the company moved outside of selling just plumbing to a full cadre of Home Improvement Products. More information can be found at www.improvementdirect.com.
