For Love of the Game is a film based on the book For Love of the Game by Michael Shaara. It is directed by Sam Raimi and stars Kevin Costner as Billy Chapel and Kelly Preston as Jane Aubrey.
A baseball legend, almost finished with his distinguished career at the age of 40, has one last chance to prove who he is, what he is capable of, and win the heart of the woman he has loved for the past five years.
Kevin Costner plays a Major League pitcher playing in what may well be the last game of his career for the Detroit Tigers. In the midst of throwing a perfect game at Yankee Stadium, he flashes back to memories of his long time girlfriend.
