Created by designer Fred Sutherland and chef Fred Eric, Fred62 received it's name from their communal birth year of 1962. Designed by Fred Sutherland and opened in 1997, the restaurant was intended to receive all the elements of a traditional American coffee shop, complete with a retro-sixties counter and ice cream fountain, while still providing a rock-star menu to its patrons "24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year [...]... including your birthday... and Christmas too." It is Fred62's mixture of decorative vision and culinary excellence that has, over the years, incited praise by local food critics, often struck in awe by its "bowling alley fashion sense… and classic Hollywood charm."

Upon entering the diner the unique design takes a turn from the traditional, armed with a bright green exterior, trimmed with bright orange lettering and panels, and complete with waitresses in strapping racing-striped aprons, over-pillowey leather booths and a menu that has brought a classic and diverse array of foods from the past to the modern world since its creation. Mounted on the walls are decorative paintings and signed pictures of celebrities, verifying that your food is, indeed, fit for a rock star. Fred62 receives a wide range of patronage, easily noticed by anyone making a first time appearance. So many different types of people, from writers, businessmen, families, bikers, artists to late-night-club-goers, all share the commonality of knowing where to go for great food and a stellar environment. Everything about Fred62 shows off its uniqueness and individuality, all the way down to the well kept and strangely decorrated restrooms.

Fred 62's is known infamously for its epic range of foods from breakfast's to late night full-course dinner meals.
