French house

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

French house is a late 1990s form of house music greatly influenced by 1970s and 1980s disco and funk as well as the productions of Thomas Bangalter. The music is notable for the "filter effect"[citation needed] used by artists such as Daft Punk, and sometimes uses vocal samples. The genre is also known as "French touch", "filter house" or "tekfunk". French house largely overlaps with modern "funky house", depending on the artist's interpretation of the baseline's depth.

French house music has gone on to influence a range of artists, including Eric Prydz and Steve Angello.
