On Joe Satriani's website it was stated that for the spring G3, John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert would be joining the tour. This will be Paul Gilbert's first full G3 tour as he has only played as a special guest with Steve Lukather in a Los Angeles 2001 tour. They will be going to Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Reno, NV, Kansas City, MO, Chicago and many more.

Dream Theater and the Scorpions are the only bands that had two of its members on G3 tour: John Petrucci on guitar and Mike Portnoy on drums (2001, 2002 & 2006), and Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth both on guitars (1998).

John Petrucci, Eric Johnson and Robert Fripp are the only three guitarists (excluding Joe Satriani and Steve Vai) who have played on the G3 tour more than one time:

  • John Petrucci - 5 times (soon to be 6)
  • Eric Johnson - 2 times
  • Robert Fripp - 2 times

  • Bx3 - spin-off that features three bassists rather than three guitarists
