In 1985 he re-wrote the record books by scoring four tries as Great Britain beat New Zealand in a test series at Central Park, Wigan.
In 1990, as vice-captain, he was outstanding in Great Britain's series triumph in New Zealand and then in the famous victory over Australia at Wembley. He remains the most capped GB player of all time.
He moved from Hull FC to his home town club Leeds in 1987, before finally joining Huddersfield in 1996.
He can currently be seen on the BBC's Super League show and can be heard as an expert on BBC Radio Leeds.
