Gary Teale (born July 21, 1978 in Glasgow) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Derby County as a winger.
Gary was educated at Cleveden Secondary School before his footballing career.
He began his career at Clydebank in 1996, followed by a three year spell at Ayr United. But it was at Wigan Athletic that he settled in, picking up a title for the 2002/03 Second Division, also proving crucial in the 2004/05 season in which Wigan were promoted into the Premiership. In 2005 he was offered a new two-year contract with the club.
Teale's impressive performances for his club earned him international recognition, he won his first Scotland cap in a 3-1 defeat to Switzerland on 1 March 2006. The Wigan Athletic fans point of view on Gary Teale is widely variable. This is largely due to his mixed displays.
On 11 January, 2007 Teale moved to Derby County for £600,000.
His performances for Derby have left a lot to be desired resulting in him being confined to the bench for the latter part of the season. It is highly unlikely he will play any part in Derby's premiership team should they gain promotion at the end of the season.
