Gavin McCann (born January 10, 1978 in Blackpool, Lancashire) is a combative midfielder with Aston Villa. He has one England cap to his name, playing against Spain at Villa Park in 2001.

He was signed from Sunderland in 2003, who in turn signed him from Everton in 1998, where he was a product of their academy.

He was a member of the Sunderland side which won the Division One title and promotion to the Premiership with 105 points in 1999.

Since joining Villa he has had numerous injury setbacks. He has scored 1 goal this season in a 3-1 home loss against Manchester City. He has recently come under fire from the Holte End faithful following a 1-1 draw with Everton on 2 April 2007. McCann gave away a needless free-kick resulting in Joleon Lescott scoring. This, resulting in numerous bad performances has seen his popularity wane at Villa Park.
