Gemini is an astrological sign, which originated from the constellation Gemini, and is the third sign of the zodiac. Gemini is classed as a Positive or masculine, extravert sign; its element is Air and its Quality is Mutable.[3] Traditionally in astrology Gemini is ruled by the planet [Mercury]. The sign opposite to Gemini is Sagittarius. Under the tropical zodiac, Gemini is occupied by the Sun from May 21 to June 21, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from June 15 to July 15.

In astrology the astrological signs represent twelve equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrological beliefs, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs at the same time are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression.[4] The scientific community generally considers astrology as a pseudoscience or superstition.[5][6], belief in astrology remains widespread.[7][8][9][10]

Gemini is associated with the Greek myth of Castor (or Kastor) and Pollux and with the Greco-Roman god Hermes/Mercury and sometimes also the gods Loki, Asklepios/Aesculapius, and Veles and the goddesses Eris/Discordia, Hebe, and Ate. Being twins, Gemini can also sometimes be associated with the Greek twins Apollo and Artemis.

The astrological symbol for Gemini is the Roman numeral for two, to represent the twins and duality.

Astrologers broadly agree that the following are the characteristics of Gemini: [11] The Gemini person is versatile, whimsical, nimble, articulate, active, adaptable, intellectual, witty, inquistive, intuitive, charming, brilliant, creative, upbeat, affectionate, courteous, theatrical, generous, romantic, thoughtful, straight-forward, social, talkative, mercurial, eloquent, brave, free-spirited, attention-loving, playful, adventurous, good-natured, good sense of humor, broad-minded, diplomatic, and lively.

The Gemini is also prone to being boastful, temperamental, fickle, demanding attention and admiration; plays mind games, quarrelsome, arrogant, egoistical, prattlers, caustic, tricksters, narcissistic, devious, manipulative, rebellious, blunt, superficial, argumentative, restless, somewhat conceited, childish, mordant, indecisive, sore loser, nervous, dual-natured, tense, cold, insensitive, impulsive, overly talkative, inconsistent and cunning.
