Gene Fairbanks

Gene Fairbanks (born 8 August 1982 in Goondiwindi, Australia) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He currently plays for the Brumbies in the international Super 14 competition. His usual position is at inside centre or fly-half.

Fairbanks was educated at Downlands College in Toowoomba and he was invited to join the Reds Rugby College in 1997. He played his senior club rugby for Easts. Fairbanks made his Super 12 debut in 2003, for the Queensland Reds, in a match against the Waikato Chiefs in Hamilton. Later that year he was selected in the Australian Under 21's team. His 2004 season for the Reds' was troubled by a foot injury he sustained in the pre-season.

He signed for the Brumbies franchise for the 2005 season, and scored a try on debut against the Crusaders. He went onto start in another six matchese that year for the Brumbies, earning in total, eight caps for the team. He played in 11 of the Brumbies' matches in the 2006 Super 14 season, and was subsequently included in the 2006 Wallabies squad.
