Gidi Gov started his career in entertainment as singer in a military band, the band of the Nachal. By the year of 1973 a number of his friends that originated from that same band established the mythological Israeli rock band Kaveret, which won great success.

In addition to his music career Gidi participated in Israeli motion pictures such as "Ha-Lehaka" (The Band) which describes life in the military band, "Dizengoff 99" and more.

By the year 1979 he began also to appear as a host and entertainer when in the successful comedy show "Zehu-Ze!" (That's it!). He appeared in that program until 1993.

At the start of the eighties Gidi appeared a number of times in the children music festivals.

With the opening of the Israeli channel 2 Gidi became the host of his own show named "Laila Gov", which won great success and continued a number of years.
