Gillian Merron

Gillian Joanna Merron (born 12 April 1959) is a politician in the United Kingdom. She is the Labour Member of Parliament for Lincoln. She is currently Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport.

Educated at Wanstead High School in Wanstead in east London and the University of Lancaster gaining a BSc(Hons) in Management Sciences, she worked as a local government officer and a UNISON and NUPE regional trade union official before being elected to the House of Commons in May 1997.

From October 2002 until May 2006 she was a government whip and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury.
