Gilze en Rijen (pronunciation ) is a municipality in the southern Netherlands. The municipality contains four villages Rijen, Gilze, Hulten and Molenschot.

The town of Gilze was founded more than 2000 years ago by the Roman Empire.
Rijen grew in the 19th century due to his leather factories. Rijen is also a part of the 'Langstraat' (Longstreet). The Langstraat is a region in North-Brabant were the textile and leather industry was situated. Other villages and cities situated in the longstreet are Tilburg, Waalwijk and Dongen.
