Gold, released in 2001, is a record by Ryan Adams in the alternative country genre. It is the follow-up to Heartbreaker. The album went on to sell 364,000 copies in the USA and 812,000 worldwide (according to Q Magazine, September 2007, Page 63), Adams' best-selling album to date. Though only his second album, it has been widely considered to be his best work by fans and critics alike.

The album includes "When the Stars Go Blue", a song which has gone on to be covered by artists like The Corrs, Tyler Hilton, and Tim McGraw. "New York, New York" was also included on the album and became a notable MTV favorite following the September 11th, 2001 attacks on America.

Adams' former roommate and friend Adam Duritz (lead singer of Counting Crows) lends background vocals to a few tracks.

Stephen King's 2006 book Lisey's Story includes part of the lyrics to "When the Stars Go Blue" in the beginning.
