Grant Thornton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grant Thornton LLP encompasses the US operations of Grant Thornton International, one of the largest accounting organizations outside of the Big Four (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers). The firm has about 50 US offices. In addition to auditing, Grant Thornton provides its customers with such services as Sarbanes-Oxley expertise, mergers and acquisitions advice, tax services, management consulting, and business valuations. Target industries include construction, consumer products, financial services, government contracting, public sector and quasi governmental organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and technology.

Their Global Public Sector delivers financial, technology and performance solutions to U.S. federal, state and local government clients, as well as international organizations. The international organization services clients on a global scale, with a specialized team focused on developing and emerging markets. The U.S. government group provides financial and management consulting services that help government managers assess where they are now, pinpoint where they must go and develop a roadmap for change. Such challenges include benchmarking and improving performance, eliminating inefficient processes, replacing or enhancing financial systems, addressing mandates for change, complying with regulations, and understanding, explaining and controlling costs.

Founded by Alexander R. Grant in 1924, the firm became Grant Thornton in 1986 when it joined with the UK firm Thornton Baker.
