The earliest known human settlement in Merseyside has been found at Greasby. It dates from approximately 7000 BC. National Museums Liverpool archaeologists excavated the site between 1987 and 1990.

Formerly a township situated mainly in West Kirby Parish, Wirral Hundred. The population was 123 in 1801, 177 in 1851, 290 in 1901 and 4,367 in 1951. [1]

  • Greasby has four primary schools, (namely Greasby Infant School, Greasby Junior School, Our Lady of Pity Primary School and Brookdale Primary School), three churches, (St. Nicholas' Church of England, Our Lady Of Pity Catholic Church, and Greasby Methodist Church), and several pubs. These include Ellies Wine Bar, The Greave Dunning, The Red Cat, The Twelfth Man and The Coach & Horses. There are also nine hairdressers and one post office.
  • In 2006, the Channel 4 television programme Fat Pets identified Greasby as the home of supposedly the fattest cat in Britain. His name is Archie and he lives near the Junior School. Channel 4's The Big Breakfast once visited a house near Greasby Infant School, the front of which was painted like that year's England World Cup shirt.
