Greatest Hitz is Limp Bizkit's 2005 greatest hits compilation album. Along with the group's most successful singles, the album also features three new songs. "Why" and "Lean On Me" were left-overs from Results May Vary, which were dropped due to Mike Smith joining the band and new "heavier" songs being recorded^{[citation needed]}. "Bittersweet Home" was newly recorded for the album^{[citation needed]}

A bonus track "The Truth" taken from The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) EP is also available in some countries.^{[citation needed]}

Some sources claim the band was forced to release the album against their wishes by their record label^{[citation needed]} The album was only promoted in Europe^{[citation needed]}, and Fred Durst was forced to do interviews to promote it. [1] Wes Borland said that the album was a "piece of crap and a waste of money"^{[citation needed]}

The album's cover art, which features the band's logo along with a white and pink design which resembles a keyhole, or a ladies restroom sign, has been noted by some to be unusual^{[citation needed]}. Some considered this unexpected after the band's previous covers^{[citation needed]}, most of which were drawn by Wes Borland himself^{[citation needed]}. When asked about the album art, Durst stated it was his idea, and it was done deliberately: "I wanted it to stand out on the shelf and I did not want it to look like every other metal band record."^{[citation needed]} He also refused to explain the meaning of the cover, saying it was open to interpretation.^{[citation needed]}

In addition, a "Greatest Videoz" DVD, compiling most of the band's music videos was released on the same day^{[citation needed]}, separately from the album. The videos for "Sour", "Take a Look Around", "The Truth" (which was not an official music video^{[citation needed]}), the second & third version of "Behind Blue Eyes", and the video for "Bittersweet Home" were all omitted from the DVD^{[citation needed]}, to the dismay of many fans^{[citation needed]}.
