Gressil

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Christian demonic beliefs, Gressil is the demon of impurity and uncleanliness. He is the third in the order of Thrones. He is also known as Cresil.

The idea for "Gressil" has evolved over time. In many modern works of fiction, Gressils are monster or monster-like evolutions of flying lizards with purple bat-like wings and the body of a mini-devil with a lizard head. Gressils are said to feed on carrion, but are known to attack living things when provoked. Gressils inhabit deep dark caves but are said to come out in the daytime since the people tend to hunt at dawn. Since they are scavengers, they eat what people leave behind from the hunt. Gressils do not usually attack humans without a reason.

In the video game Golden Sun: The Lost Age, Gressils are demonic creatures living in a cave right underneath the island of Izumo. They are meant to protect a stone tablet but might also be related to the cause of reawaking Orochi from its slumber.

In the video game World of Warcraft there is a sword called "Gressil, Dawn of Ruin" See here http://thottbot.com/?i=53979
