Habib Bourguiba jr.

Habib Bourguiba Jr., born April 9th 1927 in Paris, is a diplomate and a political figure of Tunisia.

Son of Habib Bourguiba, who will become the first president of the republic of Tunisia in 1957, and of his first spouse Mahilde Lorrain. He is named ambassador of Tunisia in France in November 1958, also in The United States of America later on.

In 1964, he will replace Mongi Slim for the position of Secretary of foreign Affaires until 1970. He then become Secretary of Justice until he is named special counsellor in 1977. The coup d'etat on November 7th, 1987 will destablish him from his office. He was always behind his father, who he was hiw confident. Until he was a bit separated from his father by other members of the government.

Today, sherholder (2.3%) and board member of the BIAT Banque, he is married to Neïla Zouiten, doughter of Chedly Zouiten (founder of the EST, soccer club of Tunis) and son of 3 children:

  • Mouezz Bourguiba (born March 14, 1956 in Tunis) : married to Françoise Peignon and father of Amina Bourguiba (born 1985) and Aïcha Bourguiba (born 1989)
