Heer

Heer [IPA: heɐ] is German for "army". Generally, its use as "army" is not restricted to any particular country, so "das britische Heer" would mean "the British army". However, more specifically it can refer to:
- The German Army, the Heer — part of the Bundeswehr (or Reichswehr, or Wehrmacht during different historical periods of Germany).
- The Austrian Army, the Österreichisches Bundesheer.
- The Swiss army, the Bundesheer.
- The army of the German Confederation in the 19th century.
Other meanings:
- Heer can also mean "gem" in some Indian languages.
- Heer Saleti, a character from the epic Punjabi love story, Heer Ranjha.
