The school is also home to the Newport News Public Schools Technology and University magnet. The school is located in the South East End area of the city (Downtown) at 5800 Marshall Avenue. He followed the original principal of the school, Timothy Sweeney, who will soon become principal of the new Achievable Dream High school (originally Briarfield Elementary) that is being built next to Heritage High's campus. The Class of 2007 will be the school's tenth graduating class and the first without the original principal.
