High School Musical: The Concert was a 40-city concert tour based on the popular hit Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, sponsored by AEG Live and presented by Buena Vista Concerts.

"High School Musical: The Concert" expanded the Disney Channel franchise that has already produced a triple-platinum selling soundtrack and a planned movie sequel.

Disney is already scoring a success with another concert based on a TV musical, "The Cheetah Girls," which is on a sold-out tour of at least 60 cities.

The concert, which featured songs from the film, also included cast members Corbin Bleu, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman and Vanessa Anne Hudgens. Zac Efron did not join the rest of the cast, however, in order to work on Hairspray. Joining them instead was Drew Seeley, who co-wrote "Get'cha Head in the Game" and sang on the "High School Musical" soundtrack. Jordan Pruitt was the show's opening act.

• The show's touring producer, creative director and director was Kenny Ortega.
• The concert typically ran two and a half hours (150 minutes).
• In one concert, as seen on YouTube, the cast introduced Kenny before singing one last chorus of "We're All in This Together."
• A live version of "Start of Something New" recorded at the Houston concert was included in the Radio Disney Jams Vol. 9 CD.
• On May 1 2007, the concert will be released on both CD and DVD together.
• After High School Musical 2 airs, the cast will again go on tour.
• According to Drew Seeley's MySpace, he claims that in May, the concert will premiere on Disney Channel.
• There is no word yet if the opening act of Jordan Pruitt will be featured on the concert DVD.
