The military history of Egypt is one of the oldest recorded in the world, dating at least as far back to the time of ancient Egypt. Many of the great military events that occurred in ancient Egypt can be found in texts such as the Torah. Many empires have spanned the land of current-day Egypt, include the empire of Alexander the Great, the Roman Empire, the Persian Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Islamic Empire and the Ottoman Empire.
