IMDb profile

Holiday Affair is a black-and-white 1949 romantic comedy film starring Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh. The film, directed and produced by Don Hartman, saw Mitchum expand from his typical roles in film noir and war films. Set during the Christmas season, the film became a minor holiday classic, though it has since been forgotten and is less well known as other films, such as It's a Wonderful Life.

Steve Mason (Robert Mitchum), a veteran and drifter employed as a clerk at a department store, is fired after letting widowed comparative shopper Connie Ennis (Janet Leigh) return a train. Mason ultimately buys the train for Connie's son Timmy (Gordon Gebert), and the unemployed Mason and the widow gradually fall for each other. Complicating their love, however, is Connie's wealthy but impassive fiancee (Wendell Corey).

Robert Mitchum as Steve Mason
Janet Leigh as Connie Ennis
Wendell Corey as Carl Davis
Gordon Gebert as Timmy Ennis
Griff Barnett as Mr. Ennis
Esther Dale as Mrs. Ennis
Henry O'Neill as Mr. Crowley
Harry Morgan as Police Lieutenant
