Holmsund

Holmsund is a small village near the city of Umeå in Västerbotten, northern Sweden, which serves as a port for Umeå. To the west, across the sound, there is a town called Obbola. Both Holmsund and Obbola have wood and paper industries. A ferry service runs to the Finnish port of Vaasa.

One of the better-known establishments in the town is "Mäster Erik Matob". It is basically a restaurant and a Youth Hostel, but also has Student Rooms. This is the most likely place in Holmsund to find people from all over the world.


Buses run quite frequently between Umeå and Holmsund. A bus pass can be purchased for 635 Swedish Krona and used for 30 days' unlimited travel. It can be purchased from the bus driver.
