The House of Assembly of Kiribati (official constitutional name: Maneaba ni Maungatabu) has 42 members, 40 elected for a four year term in single-seat and multi-seat constituencies, 1 delegate from Banaba Island and 1 ex-officio member (the Attorney General).

Created with the Constitution of 12 July 1979, its new seat is at Ambo since October 2000, on South Tarawa. From 1979 to 2000, it was at Bairiki.

There is a Kiribati Electoral Commissioner (her name is Rine Ueara). The Kiribati voters will go to the next polls on 22nd August 2007 (and 30th August for second round) to elect 44 MPs in 23 electoral districts.
