Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The plot is centered around two underachieving pot smokers - Silas and Jamal. When Silas' friend Ivory dies, Silas uses his ashes as fertilizer for a new batch of marijuana. When taking their THC (as opposed to SAT) exams for college, Jamal decides that they should take the test while they are high (thus resulting in high grades.) Soon they discover that smoking Silas' new batch of weed summons the ghost of the recently deceased Ivory, who tells them the exact test answers and helps both of them pass with perfect scores. Several prestigious colleges offer them to study at their school, suggesting different learning athmosphere and programs, but they all seem not to be interesting enough. That is until Chancellor Huntley suggests the two sign up at Harvard University. They accept the offer and continue using the magic weed to achieve success at the university. However, their weed is eventually stolen by the nerdy volunteer student guard Gerald, who commences to smoke all of it, and they have to try studying to avoid being kicked out of college, but don't manage to do so. Jamal remarks: "How could I fail Women's Studies? I love bitches!" Despite trying to dig up and smoke the remains of John Quincy Adams, they have to rely on their own intelligence to maintain their grades. Meanwhile at the campus they meet several interesting students such as Twan - the Asian child-prodigy, Jamal's fellow pot-smoker I Need Money, Bart - a snobby rowing team captain and others.

On March 27, 2007 Redman confirmed on BET's Rap City that How High 2 is currently being written.
