Husson College is a small college located in Bangor, Maine, USA, aptly named after its founder Chesley Husson, founded in 1898 which specializes in business and nursing. The College was originally named Shaw School of Business and was located on the second floor of a building in downtown Bangor. Enrollment was low until after World War II, when its reputation grew as a business school. Today the College has five schools: Business, Health, Education, Science and Humanities, and the New England School of Communications. The Bangor Theological Society is also currently housed in the Bell Residence Hall. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the American Association of Physical Therapists, and the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Enrollment for the 2005-2006 academic year was over 2,000 students, with approximately 400 of those in graduate programs.
The current physical layout of the Husson College Campus includes the Gym, the Peabody academic building, Dickerman Dining Hall, the Family Business Center, and the residence halls (Hart, Carlisle, and Bell). Two walking trails walk around the out perimeter offer scenic walks through the Maine forest, but often tend to become flooded during the late winter and early spring.
Husson College has several club organizations, mostly professional, as well as the Outdoors Club, Technology Club, Diversity Club, and GAMERS (Games Anime Manga Entertainment Recreational Society). Information for all club organizations can be obtained at student activities.
