I'm into Something Good

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"I'm Into Something Good" is a song made famous by Herman's Hermits.

Originally recorded by ex-Cookie member Ethel "Earl-Jean" McCrea in 1964 and reaching No. 38 in the US chart, it was quickly remade as their debut single, reaching No. 1 in the UK charts in September 1964 and peaking at No. 13 in the US later that year. Herman's Hermits' release at the height of the British Invasion came at a time when Brill Building songwriters, Carole King and Gerry Goffin in this case, found themselves in danger of obsolescence, as most of the British groups wrote their own material. The song proved there was still a great deal of life in the song machine, which would strike gold once more in the similarly clean-cut American act, The Monkees, in 1966.

Notable lyrics in the song include - "I walked her (him) home and she (he) held my hand...I knew it wouldn't be just a one night stand...Something tells me I'm into something good..."

The song was featured in the first Naked Gun movie in 1988. From that movie's soundtrack, a solo version by Herman's Hermits frontman Peter Noone climbed the Adult Contemporary charts that year. It was also the opening song for The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue.

In late 2005, the song was used in a television commercial for Yogurt Burst Cheerios.
