Ils

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ils (real name Illian Walker) is a musician and producer who has released records on labels such as Marine Parade and Distinct'ive Records.

He has released three studio albums. In 1999 he released Idiots behind the Wheel, this album took a slow/jazzy/bass heavy/breaks approach. Idiots behind the Wheel was released on the Fuel label, but was never "marketed" after the label went down the drain, discontinuing the albums release.

In 2002, Ils returned with Soul Trader which was subject to critical acclaim and numerous remixes from breakbeat and drum and bass heavyweights, Evil Nine and High Contrast, one of which was featured on the album itself.

In 2005, Ils made another return, this time with the album Bohemia. Again, Bohemia was the subject of critical acclaim and was nominated for several "Album of the Year" awards, namely the Breakspoll awards. Several songs also received the remix treatment from well known breakbeat bands and musicians including Atomic Hooligan, Adam Freeland and The Drum Monkeys.

In late 2006, Ils released a cover version of The Who's "Baba O'Riley" on Distinctive Records, reportedly described by Pete Townshend as "brilliant."[1]
