ITE College East (ITE CE-SM) is a division of the Institute of Technical Education. The campus was built in the quiet neighbourhood of Simei, the college is part of ITE's "One ITE System, 3 Colleges" plan. The plan was to merge it's existing ITE East and West network campuses into 3 Colleges. The ITE East network was renamed to ITE College Central while ITE West Network was renamed to ITE College West while ITE College East (Simei) was the first of its kind to be built. By 2010 ITE will have only 3 campuses in Singapore. ITE College East covers areas on Nursing, the Life Sciences and Logistics Management.
ITE College East opened it's gates on August 2004 and started it's operations on January the following year.
Following the footsteps of universities and polytechnics, the College has four schools, School of Engineering, School of Applied & Health Sciences, School of Info-Comm Technology and School of Business & Services. The Schools are running a total of 20 courses. The campus has a projected training capacity for 15 300 students.
The 4 schools in the college offer these following courses:

A plan to replace the 10 smaller ITE campuses into 3 colleges were to benefit the students if they were to take a course in ITE, they won't have to go to another campus to attend it. Another reason was to improve the image of ITE as a global leader in technical education as oppose to the "last resort for all failures" in the local views of Singaporeans.
Before the college system was implemented, the campus was to be named "ITE Simei Regional Campus" due to the campus' vast size and projected intake as oppose to the other 10 smaller ITE campuses. In 2004, while the campus was still under construction, it was renamed ITE College East (Simei) under the new college system. Still, some signboards in the campus still bare the "ITE Simei Regional Campus" name.
The campus covers a land of 10.7 hectares. The architectural concept of the campus is a gigantic circular shaped stool like forum followed by three 6-story curved buildings surrounding the central forum. The campus has a wide range of facilities as follows:
Due to the campus' location in Simei, ITE College East is sometimes and incorrectly referred to as ITE East (Simei), ITE Simei and East Simei ITE.
