I Stay Away is the first single off American grunge band Alice in Chains's second EP Jar of Flies. It reached #10 on the Modern Rock Tracks. It is notably softer than Alice in Chains's previous recordings on both Facelift and Dirt. It also uses a great deal of instrumentation that Alice in Chains had previously not attempted, including horns and string instruments.
The music video to the song has been said to be the band's best. It is entirely stop-motion animation, featuring the band members in puppet form in a circus. The video was directed by Nick Domkin.
It was also featured on an episode of Beavis & Butthead
