Ian Ferguson (born March 15, 1967 in Glasgow) is a former professional footballer.

Ferguson started his career with Clyde, but was transferred to St Mirren in 1986. He scored in St Mirren's 1-0 win over Dundee United in the 1987 Scottish Cup final.

Nine months after winning the Scottish Cup, he transferred to Rangers for £850,000 - still the record fee received by St Mirren. He is remembered as a key Rangers player, appearing 336 times and scoring 46 goals. He played in the team under managers Graeme Souness and Walter Smith. He rarely played under Dick Advocaat, however, and moved on to Dunfermline Athletic in 2000. Before the start of the 2002-2003 season, Ferguson emigrated to Australia to play for Northern Spirit, a club in which Rangers then had a substantial shareholding. More recently, he has played and been made head coach of the Central Coast Mariners in New South Wales, who play in the Australian A-league.

Ferguson won nine Scotland caps, achieved at irregular intervals over a period of nine years. He set the player record for number of Scottish league titles won, playing in each season of Rangers' record-equalling run of nine consecutive championships between 1988-89 and 1996-97, and in the first title win under manager Dick Advocaat, in 1998-99.

Ferguson, who was noted for the superstition of having to play with the right side of his shirt hanging outside of his shorts,[citation needed] is one of 64 Rangers players elected to the club's Hall of Fame.
