Idol 2005 was the second season of the Swedish version of Idol. This season the jury visited other areas of Sweden including: Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö, Piteå and Sundsvall.

24 contestants appeared to the public in four groups of six contestants and the two contestants with the highest phone and SMS votes in each group became finalists. The judges also held a Wildcard episode in which two contestants advanced to the finals based on viewer votes and one contestant based on the jury's choice; Agnes Carlsson.

The finalists of Idol 2005 also recorded a CD of show performances as did the first season of Idol 2004. Idol 2005 - My Own Idol was also a highly successful CD earning double platinum accreditation in Sweden.

The two contestants making the grand final were Agnes Carlsson, from Vänersborg, and Sebastian Karlsson, from Morgongåva. In this final, both contestants sang their version of the winning single: Right Here, Right Now (My Heart Belongs to You). Agnes became only the third Idol wildcard to win Idol 2005. BMG released the single, followed by her debut album Agnes. During 2006, Sebastian released his debut self-titled album as well as his debut single Do What You're Told. It was also revealed that Ola Svensson gained a record deal too. He's gonna release his debutsingle Rain soon in the middle of April in Sweden. Even Jens Pääjärvi is going to release a single in the beginning of June 2006 in Sweden. The name of his song is I Wanna Love You.
