Indian People's Congress was registered as a political party by the Election Commission of India with effect from March 30, 1993.

The Charter of Indian People's Congress submitted to the Commission reads thus:

                   'HAVING FAITH:

THAT planet earth is our common home and we have inherited it in trust for ourselves and all other life species of the present and succeeding generations;

THAT all life species are sacrosanct and deserve survival and preservation;

THAT all human disputes are capable of being resolved peacefully;

THAT mankind is an evolving species being yet at an intermediary stage; and

THAT mankind is capable of exploring the unknown universe, harnessing natural forces and thereby shaping its destiny and of the world:

                AND BEING CONVINCED:

THAT mankind is living under the threat of extinction by the use of nuclear weapons;

THAT a firm and stable human unity is the only effective guarantee against such threat; and

THAT such unity can only be achieved by community of interest, purpose and destiny of human race:

          WE CALL UPON PEOPLE OF INDIA
                TO ACCOMPLISH, 
              in common interest,

COLLECTIVE SURVIVAL of all life species on earth by observing peace, order, disarmament and conservation of nature;

FREEDOM from political, economic and social oppression by guarding rights and dignity of individuals and interest of society;

COMMON PROSPERITY of people by utilising technological advancements and scientific management of resources to avoid waste and bring efficiency;

GLOBAL UNITY cultural and political by promoting mutual understanding and harmony in diversity; and

ENLIGHTENMENT of human beings by imbibing the knowledge of science, from material to psychic, and remaining open to change of convictions.'
