The Indiana Ice is a Tier I ice hockey team formed in 2004 when it was purchased from the former Danville, Illinois, USA team. It plays its home games at the Pepsi Coliseum, located in the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana (some of its home games are also played in the Conseco Fieldhouse, located in downtown Indianapolis -- better known as the home of the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever basketball teams). The Ice play in the United States Hockey League - East Division. President of the Ice is Paul Skodjt.

The Ice began as the Indianapolis Ice, an expansion team in the International Hockey League, in 1988. Archie Henderson was the team's first coach, but departed after the team won just 18 of its first 54 games.

The 1989-90 season saw Darryl Sutter take the coaching reins, and he led the team to its first and only Turner Cup championship with a 4-0 sweep of the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

After 11 years in the IHL, the club dropped to the Central Hockey League for the 1999-2000 season and promptly won the league title under coach Rod Davidson. The Ice won the last two games of the series away from home to take the championship in seven games.

The Ice spent five years in the CHL before becoming a USHL club for the 2004-2005 season and being renamed the Indiana Ice.
