Information TV is a television organisation which broadcasts two free-to-air channels on Sky digital in the United Kingdom.

Contents

Information TV came into existence in April 2003, and received its ITC (Ofcom) Licence in November 2003. It began broadcasting at 10am on Monday, 19 January 2004 on Sky digital EPG 692. On Monday, 7 June 2004 the channel moved EPG to 588, in the News and Documentaries section of Sky digital. On 8 October 2004 the channel launched a broadband simulcast via the company website. On Thursday May 26, 2005 the channel moved to EPG 277. On Tuesday 28 February 2006 the channel moved to EPG 181, where it remains at present. Its second channel, Information TV 2 presently broadcasts on EPG 182.

Information TV operates in two ways. Firstly, so that government departments and public bodies can communicate directly with those with whom they are interacting; and secondly allowing would-be broadcasters to "start small", by having regularly-scheduled programmes which they control.

Information TV 1 on EPG 181 broadcasts programmes from government departments, public bodies and other public service institutions. The channel's stated aim is to provide UK citizens with access to valuable information and allow their clients to reach their target audiences effectively.

Information TV 2 on EPG 182 is designed to help start-up TV operations launch, by providing them slices of the schedule to facilitate proving their concepts and getting on air quickly.

Information TV 2 also broadcasts Live Roulette TV from 10pm to 2am every evening, and also carries the show on the website simulcast.
