Iommi is a Heavy Metal album by Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and myriad guest musicians and vocalists, including Skin of Skunk Anansie, Dave Grohl of Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Billy Idol and Black Sabbath bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, to name a few. The album took nearly 5 years to make. All of the songs were written by Iommi, producer Bob Marlette and the respective vocalists of each track (except "Black Oblivion", which was written by only Iommi and Billy Corgan).

Contents

As founder and leader of Black Sabbath, and only musician to have been in the band since inception to present without pause (1969-present), Iommi is still close to many people from the band's history. A number of the guest musicians come from Sabbath.

  • Ozzy Osbourne - lead vocals (1969-1978, 1978-1979, 1985, 1997-present)
  • Laurence Cottle - bass (1988)
  • Bill Ward - drums (1969-1980, 1983, 1984, 1997-present)

All three performers are present on track nine, but Cottle was never in the band during Osbourne/Ward's tenures meaning this did not re-create an old Black Sabbath line-up.

Also, Brian May made guest appearances with the band during their 1989 tour, having done a guest guitar solo on their Headless Cross album. He played solos and other additional guitars on tracks 3 and 7 of Iommi.

  1. "Laughing Man (In The Devil Mask)" - Henry Rollins (Iommi, Marlette, Rollins)
  2. "Meat" - Skin (Iommi, Marlette, Skin)
  3. "Goodbye Lament" - Dave Grohl (Grohl, Iommi, Marlette)
  4. "Time Is Mine" - Phil Anselmo (Anselmo, Iommi, Marlette)
  5. "Patterns" - Serj Tankian (Iommi, Marlette, Tankian)
  6. "Black Oblivion" - Billy Corgan (Corgan, Iommi)
  7. "Flame On" - Ian Astbury (Astbury, Iommi, Marlette)
  8. "Just Say No To Love" - Peter Steele (Iommi, Marlette, Steele)
  9. "Who's Fooling Who" - Ozzy Osbourne (Iommi, Marlette, Osbourne)
  10. "Into The Night" - Billy Idol (Idol, Iommi, Marlette)
