The Irish Premier League is the top tier of the Irish Football League, which operates in Northern Ireland. It should not be confused with the Football League of Ireland, which operated in the Republic of Ireland until being taken over by that country's national federation, the Football Association of Ireland, in 2007 and relaunched as the FAI National League.
