Ittihad

Ittihad (full name Ittihad-i Muslumin "Union of Muslims") was the political party of Muslim Turco-tatar people of Russian Empire in the beginning of XX century. Formed by Alimardan Topchubashev and Abdurrashid Ibrahimov, it had its own factions in all four Russian State Dumas. After October Revolution because of the lack of communications and left without central organ, party had to split and its local branches became independent political bodies. For example, Azerbaijani branch of Ittihad became major opposition force in Azerbaijan Democratic Republic helding considerable mandates in the Parliament. It was persecuted and dissolved after the sovetization of Azerbaijan.
