Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer is a five-minute astronomy show on public television, hosted by Jack Horkheimer. The show was called Star Hustler from its inception in 1976 until 1997, when it was renamed Star Gazer. The name was changed after viewers reported that search engines would lead children to pornographic web sites, instead of the Star Hustler site, due to the more popular Hustler Magazine. Parents lodged complaints with the producers of the show, whereupon the producers acted quickly to change its name.

This program, featuring key constellations and stars to look for each week, was first seen only on Florida PBS stations. The show went national in 1985 and was aired in foreign markets by 1989. Star Gazer is generally seen on many PBS stations before sign-off. However, due to more PBS stations broadcasting continuously, thus leaving no time to fit the program, WPBT began to offer a one-minute capsule version of Star Gazer. WPBT also provides both program versions as a downloadable video podcast in the iTunes Store.

As of September 6, 2006, there have been 1,500 episodes. The theme song of the show is Isao Tomita's electronic keyboard rendition of Claude Debussy's Arabesque No. 1 which can still be found on Isoa Tomita's album "Snowflakes Are Dancing" (RCA 60579-2-RG).

In 1999 Jack Horkheimer frequently appeared on bumpers and commercials for Cartoon Network's Cartoon Cartoon Fridays.

Horkheimer is known for the tag line that he uses to end every show: "Keep - Looking - Up!"

And he begins each show with, "Greetings, greetings fellow star gazers!"

The asteroid 11409 Horkheimer was named after him.
