James McEveley (born November 2, 1985 in Liverpool, England) is a Scottish football player who currently plays for Derby County F.C. as a left-back.

Having started his career with Everton F.C. as a youngster, he moved to Blackburn and was seen as a star in the making. He made his debut for the club against Walsall F.C. as part of a 2-2 draw in the League Cup.

An England under-21 international, McEveley was loaned to Burnley F.C. in December 2003 to ensure a more regular starting place, and to gain some more experience. He made 6 appearances for Burnley before suffering a knee injury and was sent back to Blackburn. In August 2005 he was loaned to Ipswich Town. As of 29th January 2007, his time at Blackburn Rovers looks to be coming to an end, with the club having agreed a fee with Championship leaders Derby County for the left back to move to Pride Park He may his debut in the 2-2 draw with Hull City on the 10th February 2007

He represented England U-20 at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship, but has since chosen to represent Scotland at the U-19 level[1] and B level[2].

He is currently at Derby County where he has been guaranteed First team football by Billy Davies.
